October 8, Saturday9 am at Asan Beach - “Keep Guam Beautiful”

This community cleanup will take place at Asan Beach - a former WWII invasion beach. Cold water in coolers, protective gloves, and trash bags will be provided. Please bring refillable water bottles and wear closed-toe shoes, hats, and sunscreen. For more information, please contact megan_mcalonis@nps.gov.

October 16, Sunday2 pm at the Visitor Center - “Science Sunday

Science Sunday features current research projects happening right here in Guam and the Micronesian region. For more information on this event, call 333-4050 or email gureefmonitoring@gmail.com. (1 hour)

October 22, Saturday10 am at Apaca Point - “From the Marines’ Perspective:  An In-Water Guided Hike at Apaca Point in Agat”

Join park rangers for this one-of-a-kind in-water guided hike of Apaca Point. This hike, through waist deep water, will explore the July 21, 1944, invasion of Guam from the Marines’ perspective. Look and learn the challenges U.S. soldiers faced as they were coming ashore during the invasion. Please bring reef shoes and be prepared to walk in water 3-4 feet deep. (2 hours)

October 22, Saturday2 pm at the Visitor Center - “History Revealed: The Queen of Anatahan”

From 1945 until 1952, 30 Japanese men, and one Japanese woman, lived a life of intrigue on Anatahan, an island in the Northern Mariana Islands, with several meeting mysterious fates. (1 hour)

October 29, Saturday10 am at Ga’an Point, Agat – “Hold the Line:  The Japanese Counterattack at Ga’an Point”

Join a park ranger as they discuss the Japanese counterattacks during the June 1944 Liberation of Guam at Ga’an Point in Agat.  Several times the Japanese penetrated the American defenses and were driven back with heavy losses of men and equipment. (1 hour)
