Shop Guam Festival 2013
The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) launched the Shop Guam Festival on November 29, 2013. In the midst of its second year, the 38 day campaign is aimed at highlighting Guam as a modern, fashionable and diverse destination. Together with the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association (GHRA) and its partners, GVB also took over Pleasure Island in Tumon for the SHOP GUAM | TASTE GUAM event on Sunday, December 1. Over four thousand people came to the heart of the island's tourism district to watch five fashion shows, eat mouth-watering cuisine and experience Guam's holiday shopping season.
"The best way to take advantage of the shopping incentives and events that are part of our campaign is through the Shop Guam app, a first of its kind for our island," said GVB General Manager Karl Pangelinan. "We invite our local residents and visitors to download this free mobile guide on their iPhone or Android phones so they can use it to find exclusive deals and offerings throughout the holiday season."
As part of the Shop Guam Festival, GVB also lit up Tumon with its annual Holiday Illumination Project. Hundreds of festive lights are visible after sunset along the medians of San Vitores Road from the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa all the way to the Westin Resort. The display has been done annually for at least 15 years. A Christmas Village is also located across from the Hyatt for the public to enjoy. Parking for the Christmas Village will be available at the Tumon Sands Plaza. The holiday lights will be up until the beginning of January 2014.
