Share the Håfa Adai Spirit
of Guam through Art

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) invites students across Guam to participate in the 2026 Youth Art Contest celebrating the Håfa Adai Spirit. This initiative encourages young artists to share their interpretation of Guam’s culture, hospitality, and island pride through art. Selected artworks will be showcased at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, helping create a meaningful Sense of Place for visitors arriving on island. Through the creativity and perspective of Guam’s youth, the exhibit will welcome travelers with a visual expression of the island’s culture, warmth, and community.

Youth Art Contest 2026

Who Can Participate

  • Students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade
  • Students attending schools on Guam
  • Individual student entries only (one submission per student)

Artwork Requirements & Regulations

  • Theme: “What does the Håfa Adai Spirit mean to you?”
  • Maximum Artwork Size: 11” x 14”
  • Medium: Any 2-dimensional medium may be used (crayons, colored pencils, paint, markers, etc.).
  • Artwork should be flat and unframed (no glass, frames, or bulky materials).
  • Artwork may not contain copyrighted characters or logos, such as cartoon characters or brand logos. Submissions containing copyrighted material may be disqualified from the contest and may not be included in the airport exhibit or any related promotional materials.

  • Judging Period: April 16-17, 2026
  • Airport Exhibit Opening: April 24, 2026

Prizes

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category.

Winning artwork will also be featured in the Guam Airport.

How to Submit

  • Students may submit entries individually or through their school.
  • Artwork must be submitted together with a completed Student Entry & Parent/Guardian Consent Form.
  • Please write the student’s name, school, and grade lightly on the back of the artwork.

Students may submit their artwork through their school, if the school is coordinating group submissions.

About the Exhibit

Selected artwork will be curated for display at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, helping create a welcoming and meaningful Sense of Place for visitors arriving to Guam. The exhibit highlight’s Guam’s Håfa Adai Spirit, culture, and hospitality through the perspectives of our island’s young artists.

  • 1. Who is eligible to participate?
    Students in grades Kindergarten through 8, residing on Guam. Submissions may be individual or school-coordinated.

    2. What types of artwork are acceptable?
    Two-dimensional artwork using crayons, colored pencils, paint, markers, or similar mediums. Copyrighted characters or logos are not permitted.

    3. Is there a size requirement?
    Yes. Artwork must be no larger than 11” x 14” and should be flat and unframed.

    4. How should artwork be submitted?
    Submit via school or in-person with a completed Student Entry & Parent/Guardian Consent Form. Include the student’s name, school, and grade on the back of the artwork.

    5. What is the submission deadline?
    All entries must be received by April 15, 2026, to be considered for judging by April 17, 2026.

    6. Where will artwork be displayed?
    Selected artwork will be publicly displayed at A.B. Won Pat International Airport by April 24, 2026. GVB may also use images for promotional or educational purposes.

    7. What permissions are granted by submission?
    Submission grants consent for public display and for GVB to use images of the artwork for promotional or educational purposes.

    8. How will winners be announced?
    Winners will be formally notified before their artwork is featured on GVB’s social media and displayed at Guam Airport. Prizes will be awarded, and an official MOU must be executed.

    9. Will my child be able to receive their artwork back?
    Yes. All artwork will be returned upon request. Selected pieces, including winning entries, may be retained for display. Non-selected entries can be returned if requested. Notifications will be emailed to participants after the judging period.
