GIFF-1

The annual Guam International Film Festival (GIFF) returns this weekend for its fifth anniversary and it is brimming with an eclectic collection of independent films produced by filmmakers from Guam and around the world. This highly anticipated event is a once-a-year opportunity for movie fans to enjoy a carefully crafted lineup of world-class cinematic achievements that is not available anywhere else.

Every year, the Guam International Film Festival bridges the cinematic gap between Guam and the rest of the world and brings together one of the most diverse groups of nationalities and ethnic communities ever to converge in one arena. GIFF proudly showcases independent films from the Pacific Asia region and beyond, striving to capture the passion and spirit of independent filmmakers.

GIFF-2

This year, GIFF organizers combed through 200 film submissions from 33 countries and selected 58 films that were produced by top-tier talent in Guam, Micronesia, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and the Middle East. In addition to international full length and short films, GIFF V will also feature international music videos, documentaries, educational and animated films, an array of family-friendly films, and a special showcase called Made in the Marianas.

The Made in the Marianas showcase will bring films to the big screen – many for the first time – that were written, directed and produced exclusively by Guam talent. This showcase will also include a special two-minute presentation featuring favorite selections from the ongoing Only On Guam contest. No other event in the world offers this golden opportunity.

GIFF-3

And if all of that isn’t enough to entice you to attend GIFF, this year the festival is completely free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There will also be opportunities to meet some of the local filmmakers and international filmmaking delegates who will be attending the festival.

Come and see what’s Only On Guam at the Guam International Film Festival. The Festival opens on September 26 and runs through September 30, 2015 at the Agana Stadium Theaters, located at the Agana Shopping Center.
